Description
According to the specification B338 Titanium Alloy Seamless Tubing is to be produced from hollow billet by either a cold reducing process or a cold drawing process. These processes are ones will yield a product, in this case the titanium tube astm b338, which meets the requirements prescribed in the specification.
Commercially pure grades of titanium, in this case Ti Alloy ERW Tube can have an ultimate tensile strength of about 434 Mpa. Which means the tensile strength of CP or commercially pure titanium tubes is equal to that of the more conventionally used low grade steel alloys, but have a lower density. 1.375 id titanium tube is about 60% denser in comparison to metal aluminium, although, titanium is more than two times as strong as the latter.
Machining a 35mm titanium tube requires precautions, which needs to be followed by manufacturers and buyers alike. This is because the material used in the production of 1.5 od titanium tube can gall, unless precautions such as sharp tools and proper cooling methods are used during the process of machining.
